The basic package everyone needs
Whatever your ground is, the Migration Service expects the same core set of documents. Start collecting early: translations and documents from abroad usually take the longest.

0/6 doneTranslations and apostille: where people get it wrong
All foreign documents are filed with a notarized Ukrainian translation. Documents from many countries also need an apostille or consular legalization, and it is issued in the country of origin, not in Ukraine.
The most common reason packages get returned in my practice: a mismatch in the spelling of your name between the passport translation and other documents. Before notarizing, compare every letter with any previous translations.
The supporting document: one per purpose
- Work: a work permit obtained by your employer
- Study: a certificate or enrollment order from your university
- Marriage: the marriage certificate (foreign ones: with apostille and translation)
- Family reunification: documents proving kinship
- Volunteering or religious activity: a letter from the organization and its registration documents

Frequently asked questions
Do I need photos?+
The permit photo is taken at the Migration Service office during filing, you do not bring your own. Some related documents may need photos though, check with your local office.
How long is a notarized translation valid?+
The translation itself has no expiry, it is valid while the passport is. But if you get a new passport, the translation has to be redone.
What if the apartment owner refuses to give consent?+
Without proof of residence the package will not be accepted. Options: an official lease, different housing, or a lawyer's help negotiating with the owner. It is a common and solvable situation.
