When the employment ends, the employer applies to the employment centre to terminate the permit. For the foreigner it means the ground for the residence permit disappears — which is why the cancellation is planned together with the next step: a new employer, another ground, or departure.

Why cancel the permit at all?+
The employer must report the end of the employment. An unclosed permit can raise questions during inspections and when obtaining new permits.
What happens to the employee's residence permit?+
Its ground disappears, so the foreigner has limited time to find a new employer or another ground. We advise both sides on passing this without violations.
How long does it take?+
Up to 5 working days from filing. We prepare the documents in advance so they can go in as soon as the dismissal order is signed.
Can a new permit be applied for straight away?+
Yes, the new employer files its own. That is a separate matter rather than an amendment — we run it so the gap is as short as possible.
