About this service
A health insurance policy belongs to both the permit file and the visa file, but the requirements differ: a visa needs coverage of at least EUR 30,000, while a permit needs a policy that covers its whole term — including the shift in dates during the review.

Frequently asked questions
Why not insure for exactly one year?+
Because while the Migration Service reviews the application, the dates of the future permit shift and the policy stops covering its full term. We have seen a refusal for exactly that, so we always build in a margin.
What coverage does a visa need?+
At least EUR 30,000. For a multiple-entry visa the policy for the first trip is checked.
Will any insurer do?+
No. We work only with those whose policies authorities accept without argument — faster than reissuing after a refusal.
Will a policy bought abroad do?+
Sometimes, but the requirements for cover and for the document itself differ between a visa and a permit. Send us the policy and we will check whether it will be accepted before you file.
What happens if the policy expires before the permit does?+
It is a ground for refusal, and we have run into exactly that. Which is why we build a margin into the term to cover the time the application is under review.
How much does the policy itself cost?+
The premium is an expense: it depends on the term and the cover and is not part of our fee. We name the exact amount once the term is known.
